Nuclear and Particle Physics The anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, (g-2)_\mu, allows for one of the most significant tests of the Standard Model. Presently, a deviation of 3.6 standard deviations between the Standard Model prediction and the direct measurement of (g-2)_\mu is observed. An improved theory prediction depends crucially on precision measurements in the field of hadron physics. We discuss the status as well as future perspectives of those measurements. At the end of the talk, we present furthermore the status of the world-wide search for an extra U(1) gauge boson on the GeV mass scale, which could indeed explain the (g-2)_\mu puzzle.
