High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC)

The FREIA Laboratory will contribute to the upgrade of CERN’s particle accelerator Large Hadron Collider (LHC) which is expected to be complete in 2025. The three-year contract is the first of its kind signed with a Swedish laboratory.

The project aims at upgrading the LHC luminosity to 1035 cm-2s-1. Freia will contribute to the development and tests of the superconducting Crab Cavities and Corrector Magnets required for the high luminosity LHC.
