The Division of X-ray Photon Science at the Department of Physics and Astronomy arranges the one-day symposium “New Opportunities for Science at Free-Electron Lasers and Synchrotrons”. With this event we celebrate that our university has conferred the title honorary doctor, doctor honoris causa, on Linda Young, pioneer and pathfinder for AMO science with FEL radiation. In addition, we celebrate the finalization of two long-term build-up projects: the 1D-imaging spectrometer at the SQS instrument of the European XFEL, and the VERITAS beamline at the MAX IV laboratory.
